The Basics of CBD

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp cannabis. It is commonly consumed to support overall health and wellness. While CBD can also be found in smaller amounts in marijuana, a cousin of hemp that is cultivated for its high THC content, hemp is a legal plant defined by the USDA as any cannabis sativa L. variety containing no more than 0.3% THC by dry weight.

Quality

At Source Code CBD, we pride ourselves on the quality and purity of our products. Our raw hemp extracts are sourced from industry-leading, US-based cGMP and Hemp Authority-certified CBD producers that use organically grown US hemp. Every batch of our raw hemp extract undergoes rigorous testing by the highest-rated third-party laboratories for cannabinoid potency, pesticides, fungicides, heavy metals, microbial content, and mycotoxins.

Types of CBD Products

There are three main types of CBD products: full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate. While it was previously believed that CBD in its isolated form was more potent and concentrated than full-spectrum CBD, recent research at the Lautenberg Center for General Tumor Immunology found that mice administered full-spectrum CBD were provided with higher levels of relief. Furthermore, full-spectrum CBD continued to provide relief as the dose increased. Broad-spectrum CBD contains most, if not all, of the naturally occurring cannabinoids in the hemp plant minus the THC and terpenes, making it a great option for those who prefer a superior taste. There are also situations when CBD isolate, or broad spectrum would be preferred over full spectrum CBD. For example, you may not necessarily need the full capabilities of full spectrum CBD and prefer a more pleasant taste experience, or you may not be able to risk taking even small amounts of THC, which could result in a positive drug test.

Our product line includes a range of highly effective CBD products. Our topicals are uniquely powerful, leveraging pain-relieving botanicals such as frankincense, copaiba, St John's wort, May Chang oil, menthol, isolated terpenes, CBN, CBG, and high-concentration CBD, delivered via the amazing non-toxic organic compound, DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) for faster, deeper penetration and longer lasting relief. We also specialize in high-concentration CBD sublingual (under the tongue) tinctures (2000mg/oz) delivered via pump dispensers, which offer more direct absorption through the mucosal membrane under the tongue and less metabolic waste.

Our Products

Our products are available in full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate and are delivered via organic coconut MCT oil, either unflavored or flavored with natural, organic flavors. In addition, we offer an unflavored 1000mg/oz pet spray tincture that dispenses 5mg doses per spray. We also offer broad-spectrum CBD capsules, as well as high-strength broad-spectrum CBD multi-purpose or nighttime gummies with melatonin, 5-HTP, CBN, and CBD as a gentle, natural, and highly effective sleep aid. Our product line also includes an effective ointment for eczema, psoriasis, and other autoimmune-based skin conditions, massage oils, and butter.

At Source Code, we believe strongly in the power of nature in all its forms. In addition to high-quality cannabinoids, we utilize over 20 therapeutic essential oils, butter, and botanical extracts when consciously crafting our topical pain relieving and skin treatment formulations.

Is CBD Legal?

The legality of CBD is still unclear due to different laws in different states and even different laws at state and federal levels. While CBD is legal in all 50 states, there are situations when it isn't legal. The difference between legal and illegal typically depends on several important factors determined by the state in question. There is, however, one very important factor that is a crucial determinant across all states, and that is where CBD is derived from hemp or marijuana. Our extracts come from hemp instead of marijuana, which contains a low amount of THC, making it impossible to get high off it. Because of this, we can and do ship nationwide, and no medical marijuana card is needed; however, you are responsible for ensuring there are no restrictions in your jurisdiction.

Research

CBD is well-tolerated, even in large doses. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), "In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential... To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD." Before starting or continuing to use CBD as a therapeutic remedy, it's important to consult with your doctor when using or starting the use of pharmaceutical drugs. CBD, like the enzyme in grapefruit, can increase or reduce the efficacy of certain pharmaceutical drugs.

CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid compound with enormous therapeutic potential. Our CBD is derived from agricultural hemp and is a plant-based, 'phytocannabinoid,' while the body naturally produces endogenous, or 'endocannabinoids' within the Endocannabinoid System, or ECS. CBD should not be confused with THC from marijuana, which has a psychoactive effect, or hempseed oil, which contains neither CBD nor THC. The ECS plays a critical role in the regulation of physiological and cognitive processes throughout the body for optimal function and performance, including sleep, mood, motor control, immune function, pleasure, pain, and memory, among others. CBD supplementation supports the ECS by making more endocannabinoids so the body can regain and maintain balance. That is why CBD is effective across such a broad range of medical concerns.

Managing Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is generally neuropathic or centralized. Neuropathic pain is caused by damage to nerves, which send inaccurate pain messages to the brain. Centralized pain is the result of amplified pain signals due to central nervous system dysfunction. CBD interacts within the ECS by supporting the body in modulating pain signaling by reducing sensitivity and inflammation. In a basic sense, CBD reduces chronic pain by rebalancing malfunctioning pain signals vs. masking important pain signals that safeguard against further damage.
